Wet Sept ARD, but a great day

Postby Compo » Sun Sep 03, 2017 9:41 pm

A big thanks to everyone involved in running todays ARD...
Unfortunately the good ol' British weather got the better of us, but it was still a great day. My first track event and a hellova way to learn throttle control and how to manage back wheel, front wheel and BOTH wheel slides :!:
A shame so mamy came a cropper, but good news nobody seriously hurt.
And it was good to meet so many helpful people, all willing to share knowledge and van/ tent space, so that I could at least get out the rain in preparation for the next soaking.

Anyway I'm hooked... so see you all on the next one :D

Thank you to the organisers for another well run event despite the obvious difficulties it was still good for me.
Special mention to the poor souls who stood out in the wind and the rain: some in shorts some on crutches  and all of them cold i'll bet, thankyou very much to the marshal's for volunteering.

Yeah too right, let's hear it for the marshals, at least I could hide in my van in between sessions!

Thanks to all for the day, real shame about the weather.

Many thanks to the marshalls for standing out in the lovely british summer!

Sorry for everyone in inters who had the session red flagged as I decided to see how abrasive the surface was, can confirm it is pretty abrasive!!

See you all in April!

Many thanks guys. On behalf of the committee and club members I'd also like to extend our sincere thanks to all who helped with the set up and take down of the circuit and especially the marshals who endured far more rubbish weather than I would ever wish on anyone. There are very places to hide on an open airfield, but without them the event would never go ahead. My thanks also go out to Ali on Parc Ferme who fought us off with her crutches every time we suggested she may want to sit out a couple of sessions out rather than ensure people joined the circuit in an orderly manner. Lastly but not least I'd like to thank all the riders, especially those that gave it a go (tentatively initially) on road tyres. It's advertised as an Airfield Riding Skills Day and I'm sure the majority of you will admit to having emerged a better rider for the challenge.

Aww it's my pleasure to be on parc ferme. I had my dryrobe to keep me warm & dry.

I was not going to let you guys down.

See you in April
Allie
